Merchant and Simonian count the Ventura show as sort of a hometown gig. Merchant resides in Venice Beach, while Simonian lives in Altadena. Born in Syria to Armenian-Lebanese parents who fled Beirut due to the civil war, Simonian graduated from Glendale High School and California State University, Northridge, where he studied music.
