Richard was born and raised in Pasadena. In fact, his great grandfather was one of the city’s founders. He got a B.A. and master’s degree in mass communications. He started in the television industry as a program manager for a cable company where he would manage their in-house TV studio. He also worked seven semesters as a lecturer at Cal State Northridge teaching a course on the history, psychology and sociology of radio communications.
