Resources to Address Food Insecurity

As of September 2022, California (Assembly Bill 396) expanded CalFresh Food benefits to include potentially eligible students employed in a campus based program. As a student employee here at California State University, Northridge, you are potentially eligible to receive CalFresh Food benefits based on your current campus employment.

CalFresh is a nutrition assistance program funded by the USDA that can help students buy the food they need to live healthy and active lifestyles. It may help stretch a tight food budget by allowing students to incorporate healthy foods like fruits and vegetables into their diet.  All CSU campuses have dedicated CalFresh Outreach programs to help students with the application process to find out if they qualify for this benefit.

CalFresh funds are issued on an Electronic Benefit Transfer (EBT) card, which works like a debit card. We encourage you to schedule a pre-screen/phone consultation with the CSUN CalFresh Outreach team to see if you are eligible!
