Photo credit: Lee Choo.June heralded the return of what, through 2019, was the University’s annual signature event: the Distinguished Alumni Awards, recognizing outstanding alumni and showcasing the impact of California State University, Northridge, on the personal and professional lives of its graduates and the region it serves. Our honorees included Fred Nigro ’74, one of Hollywood’s most influential business managers; Lauren Ridloff ’01, globally inspiring Broadway, television and motion picture actress and Keith Weaver ’96, Journalism, ’07, M.P.A., Executive Vice President, Global Policy and External Affairs at Sony Pictures Entertainment.

“Our honorees share a professional connection to the entertainment industry, but what makes each one a Distinguished Alumni is their personal character and ability to build community,” said CSUN President Erika D. Beck. “Fred Nigro is one of the most accomplished figures in Hollywood business management, but his personal service makes everyone feel like a star. Lauren Ridloff is a superhero on the stage and silver screen and a hero in real life for working mothers, the Deaf community, and Black and Mexican communities. And Keith Weaver is a community-minded connector on a global scale, leveraging relationships between government agencies and the entertainment industry.”

These outstanding Matadors, represent the thousands of alumni who contribute in countless ways to business, education, the arts and society. These individuals have been honored because they personify the University's tradition of excellence, bringing distinction to themselves and to CSUN through their outstanding achievements.  Yet another point-of-pride, proud moment and CSUN success story!
