As we finish the spring season we would like to highlight student success and send off our graduating students and staff with a celebration.
Student Highlights
Congratulations Estefania Ramos, Ana Garcia, and Alondra Valdez, on receiving first place award for the Sprouting at Home/ at School (SpAH/SpAS) research poster award at CSUNPosium. Review the fill list of winners from CSUNPosium.
Pinning Ceremony
On Wednesday, May 25th MMC interns and staff gathered online and in-person for the first hybrid pinning ceremony. We were fortunate to have Dr. Tom Cai, Department Chair of FCS; and Dr. Dimitri Tamalis; Associate Dean of HHD and the rest of our advisory board members join us. The celebration started off with Dr. Besnilian’s year in review slideshow. Next we had two food demonstrations including pantry delights recipe, Chipotle Bowl, and Sparkling Strawberry Mint refresher featured in one of CalFresh Rethink Your Drink workshops. Each program and student leader had a moment to talk about their interns and presented them with their certificate and pins. At the end we raised a toast to graduating students: Renee Lindenmann, Oriel Sastiel, Ariana Kazandjian, Chanel Kenner, Sharona Schnall, and Diana Aroutiounian. As well as our graduating staff: Mary Comerford and Alondra Valdez.
Dietetic Internship (DI) Graduation
On Thursday, June 16th, the 2021-2022 Dietetic Interns celebrated their virtual graduation ceremony, co-hosted by CSUN and Northeast Valley Health Corporation WIC. As a result of COVID-19 and the many challenges they faced with ongoing transitions, the resiliency of this cohort will always be remembered and we are so proud of their well-deserved success.
Despite the virtual setting, the white coat ceremony was successfully conducted and was the highlight of the graduation. Every intern was given a moment to shine and the chance to take family photos to remember the day. We extend our sincerest congratulations to all of our graduates and wish them the best in their future endeavors!
