Meet Our Speaker!
Susan Cohen, MPH is a faculty member in the Department of Health Sciences and MPH Field Placement Coordinator with 23 years' experience working in public health in both the non-profit and government sectors. As a faculty member in Health Sciences, she has taught core and elective courses in public health. As MPH internship coordinator, she teaches courses for students to get hands-on experiences in the field and supports students toward their career goals. She will discuss many topics of interest to students who are planning for their transition from classroom to career:
- How do I translate my interests/passions into the field of public health?
- What are the necessary skills for jobs in public health?
- What opportunities exist at different intervention levels of prevention work – primary, secondary tertiary?
- What different public health jobs exist in sectors such as, non-profits, government, schools, or hospitals?
- How can I make social change with my degree?
- What types of growth or career trajectories are available to me if I’m interested in management or leadership roles?
- What is trending NOW in public health jobs and how will they evolve in the next 5-10 years?
