Between 1953 and 1957, the de la Vega gave lectures in the United States and also in Puerto Rico, Mexico and Venezuela. According to the newspaper, after he settled in Los Angeles, he worked as a composition professor at San Fernando Valley State College (today California State University, Northridge).
