No other conferences have called it a day this season, but a growing number of individual programs have. The most prominent is Duke’s women’s program, which announced on Christmas Day it was canceling the remainder of its schedule after just four games at the behest of the athletes. Closer to home, Cal State Northridge’s women’s team shut it down in mid-November after six of its 13 players opted out of the season and another was unable to enter the country because of COVID-19 restrictions.
