What majors does CSUN offer?

CSUN offers 147 undergraduate majors and options,105 master's degree options, three doctoral programs and 26 teaching credential programs. Some of CSUN's most popular majors are Accountancy, Business Administration, Child and Adolescent Development, Cinema and Television Arts, Criminology and Justice Studies, Journalism, Kinesiology, Marketing, Mechanical Engineering, Psychology and Sociology.

What are CSUN's classrooms like?

CSUN's facilities, equipment and instructional technologies are designed to meet the needs of the modern university student. Our students enjoy smart classrooms, secure campuswide Wi-Fi, specialized facilities to support learning across all areas of study and an expansive research library with a comprehensive Learning Commons.

Where can I get help with classwork?

The Learning Resource Center is the place to go for tutoring, supplemental instruction, test preparation and study strategies. Many departments — such as business, chemistry and mathematics — also offer their own tutoring and supplemental instruction courses. We also offer specific academic programs to support first-generation college students, former foster youth and formerly incarcerated individuals.

What technology resources does CSUN offer?

From the CSUN Mobile App to Zoom, our students have access to a wealth of technology resources, including software, cloud storage, a device loaner program, tutorials for the Canvas learning platform, access to LinkedIn Learning, an in-person and online IT Help Center and more.

How do I get books and course materials for my classes?

The CSUN Campus Store works directly with faculty to ensure the right materials are available to all students. In addition to the printed course materials offered at the store, students also have access to myCSUNDigitalAccess, a program that delivers required course materials digitally to students when they register for any participating courses.

How much does CSUN cost?

If you are a California resident and a full-time undergraduate student, tuition and fees cost about $3,700 per semester.

If you are an out-of-state or international student, the cost is about $9,000 per semester because of an additional nonresident tuition rate of $396 per unit.

Students from select Western states and U.S. territories may be eligible to enroll in many undergraduate programs at a reduced tuition fee through the Western Undergraduate Exchange program.

Is financial aid available?

Nearly all CSUN students qualify for some form of financial aid. There are four basic kinds of aid: grants, scholarships, work-study and loans. Eligibility requirements vary. Grants and scholarships do not need to be repaid; loans require repayment.

What is student housing like at CSUN?

CSUN’s on-campus housing has it all: apartments, housing for families, suites, dining halls, game rooms, swimming pools, Wi-Fi, printing rooms, tutoring centers and sports courts — including basketball, beach volleyball and tennis. What kinds of clubs and organizations can I join?

CSUN offers more than 300 different clubs and organizations. Some are primarily for social purposes, while others bring together fans of various sports or revolve around academic interests, cultures, community service and religion and spirituality. There are 38 fraternities and sororities on campus. If you don’t find a club that matches your interests, the Matador Involvement Center can help you start your own!

Does CSUN have services for differently abled students?

The office of Disability Resources and Educational Services (DRES) facilitates a variety of accommodations to help all students succeed. DRES can assist with alternative testing and note taking; provide alternate media, including Braille; arrange for assistive computer technology, ergonomic chairs and tables for the classroom, and more.

NCOD: Deaf and Hard of Hearing Services provides support for students who are deaf and hard-of-hearing including assistance with admissions, financial aid, orientation and academic advising. NCOD also facilitates note taking and American Sign Language interpreting.

Which intercollegiate sports are played at CSUN?

Our men's teams are baseball, basketball, cross country, golf, soccer, track and field (indoor and outdoor) and volleyball.

The women's teams are basketball, beach volleyball, cross country, golf, soccer, softball, tennis, track and field (indoor and outdoor), volleyball and water polo.

What are some fun things I can do at CSUN?

The University Student Union and Associated Students host exciting events throughout the semester, from social hours and game nights to huge festivals, celebrity appearances and concerts. The Soraya performing arts center offers award-winning music, theatrical and dance performances. The Student Recreation Center offers group classes, fitness training and intramural sports. There's also the Oasis Wellness Center, offering wellness-focused services including labyrinth-guided meditation, massage chairs and nap pods.

Are there leadership opportunities?

Associated Students is the primary voice for our students — elections for these government positions occur every year. You also can run for an executive board position in any club or organization. Another option is to apply for a job on campus, such as resident advisor. In addition, most of our academic departments require you to complete an internship as part of your degree.

Is CSUN safe?

Safety is a top priority at CSUN. Our Department of Police Services is an accredited law enforcement agency that patrols our campus 24 hours a day, seven days a week. If you're walking on campus at night, our student-operated Matador Patrol offers personal security escorts.

In addition, University Counseling Services provides mental health support, including access to crisis/urgent care support that’s available 24/7.

What privacy protocols are in place to protect students’ academic and financial records?
