Brown Center Celebrates 10 Years

September 30, 2013

On November 2nd, the Abbott and Linda Brown Western Center for Adaptive Aquatic Therapy will celebrate 10 years of service to the community.  A natural extension of the land-based programs at the Center of Achievement through Adapted Physical Activity, the Brown Center offers exercise programs for people with physical challenges in 4 treatment specific pools. The risk of falling is minimized and the buoyancy of the water makes movement easier.

Just 10 years ago we opened the doors to the Brown Center, adding four pools and a variety of adaptive aquatic exercise programs to our already successful land-based programs at the Center of Achievement.  From the movable floor pool with its varying depths to accomodate people of all ages--including small children--to the whirlpools with the power to relax muscle spacticity, the Brown Center was the fulfillment of a  dream championed by Dr. Sam Britten, founder and former director (retired) of the Center of Achievement.

Join the clients, families, friends, faculty, staff, and the CSUN community for a celebratory reception and tours of the Brown Center.
