Nazarian College Receives AACSB Recognition
The David Nazarian College of Business and Economics ranks No. 31 on Money Magazine’s 2020 list of “Best Colleges for Business Majors.” Recently, Wealth Management Magazine ranked the Nazarian College’s Financial Planning program No. 6 in the country.
“Money Magazine ranks business schools separately from universities and we are particularly proud of the Nazarian College's ranking,” said Chandra Subramaniam, dean of the Nazarian College.
CSUN ranks in the top 6 percent of Money Magazine’s list of "Best Colleges in America,". Recognized as being “nationally competitive,” CSUN is listed as No. 45 among 739 colleges and No. 29 in the publication’s list of the “Best Public Colleges” in America. CSUN is also No. 6 among the “Most Transformative Colleges” in the nation, climbing from No. 7 last year.
The publication’s national rankings are based on factors such as educational quality, affordability, graduation rates, student loan repayment, and earnings data from PayScale.com. Money Magazine reports that students who attend CSUN often exceed expectations placed on them due to their academic and economic backgrounds. Accordingly, “CSUN’s graduation rate is 37% higher than would be expected” based on these circumstances, with students graduating in an average of 5 years. Moreover, the average CSUN alumni salary within five years is $48,600 and there is a low average student debt of $14,490. The report also shows that 84% of students with need get grants.
“CSUN and the Nazarian College provide students with a great education and the recognition is just icing on the cake,” said Subramaniam.
Money Magazine describes CSUN as a “rather large but fairly diverse community situated in the heart of Los Angeles' San Fernando Valley.” CSUN has the second-most diverse learning environment in the nation, according to the Wall Street Journal/Times Higher Education College Ranking 2020. More than 62 percent of CSUN’s student body includes individuals who are from traditionally underrepresented communities or are multi-racial. About 40 percent of CSUN’s tenure-track faculty were non-white in Fall 2018, well above the national average of 25 percent.
CSUN is also recognized as the No. 8 “Best Bang for the Buck Western Colleges” by the Washington Monthly’s annual College Guide and Rankings , which focuses on identifying universities that provide the greatest positive impact on students’ social mobility. The university is also ranked No. 6 among the “Top 200 Master’s Universities,” noting CSUN’s success in graduating first-generation college students and students who receive Pell grants, as well as their increased earning potential and ability to pay off student loans.
CollegeNET ranks CSUN in the top 1% nationally in its Social Mobility Index, which “measures the extent to which a college or university educates more economically disadvantaged students (with family incomes below the national median) at lower tuition and graduates them into good paying jobs.”
