Johnson has had coaching stops at Arizona State, Drake, Utah and Cal State Northridge. He also worked as an assistant at Division II schools Southwest Baptist and Bemidji State, where he played his senior year. Before that, Johnson played three seasons at Southern Utah, helping the Thunderbirds reach the NCAA Tournament.
