The first session is an introduction to the best practices for creating accessible infographic/flyer content using Acrobat Pro DC.  PDF Tools is recommended before taking this session. The second session is an introduction to the best practices for creating and/or posting accessible infographic/flyer content through Web-One.

Recommended Attendees: Staff, Faculty, Executives, Financial Personnel, Marketing Specialist, Business Analyst, Admin Support, Graphic Designers, and Instructional Support.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Learn the difference between accessibility and universal design.
  2. Understand the importance of creating accessible infographic/flyer content.

Mata-Tech Monday: Learn How to Enhance Your Course Using Canvas | April 8

Description: Canvas has all the features of a modern learning management system including the ability to accept and grade assignments, conduct discussions in forums, administer quizzes and exams, store and organize course resources, communicate with students, etc. In addition end users can access course materials, view course calendars, to do lists and set their own preferences to receive notifications on their mobile devices.

Nearing Retirement - Savings Plus | April 9

Description: Now that retirement is right over the horizon, you'll want to know all the benefits of Savings Plus that apply to you. We'll discuss maximizing your Savings Plus deferrals in your last few years of employment, withdrawing your funds after retirement, and why you should keep your funds with Savings Plus after you retire. 

Objectives-By the end of this workshop you will:

  • Learn how to maximize deferrals in your final years of employment
  • Discover the tax consequences of making withdrawals in retirement 
  • Find out why transferring out to an IRA might nullify many of the benefits of the state 401(k) and 457 plans

Kaiser Mobile Health Vehicle | April 10

Description: Kaiser Permanente's Mobile Health Vehicle will be on campus to provide complimentary Biometric screenings to Faculty & Staff - You do not need to be Kaiser Permanente subscriber to participate in this event!

  1. Services Performed: Biometric screening to include [ Cholesterol and Glucose (non-fasting), Body Mass and Blood Pressure ])
  2. Appointments are every 15 minutes and the Vehicle will be closed from 11:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m.
  3. Walk-ins can be accommodated but appointments are preferred.

Disaster Ready Kids! | April 11

Thursday, April 11, 2019 - 12:00 p.m. -12:50 p.m.
Location: Department of Police Services, 2nd Floor Training Room    

Preparing for emergencies should not fall on your shoulders alone. Young children and teens alike need to be part of the process — for their own safety and sense of empowerment. Participants will learn to work together to build an emergency kit, sit down as a family to talk about your communications plan, role-play what you would do during a disaster, and hold fire drills in your house.  Learn how to help children cope during and after a disaster.  Take home age-appropriate information for your family’s needs and links to fun games for kids to learn about emergency preparedness.

Matador Athletics Faculty and Staff Appreciation Series - Women's Softball vs UC Riverside | April 14

Sunday, April 14, 2019 - 1:00 p.m.

Presented by: CSUN Athletics

Description: The Spring 2019 Faculty & Staff Series includes seven home events on campus. For attending four of the seven designated games, participants will receive a CSUN Under Armour Pull over or sweatshirt. CSUN Faculty and Staff members will receive complimentary admission to each game and are invited to bring up to three additional guests. All CSUN Faculty and Staff members are eligible to participate by checking in at each game using their CSUN ID. The Athletics Department will have a separate check-in area for participants at each venue in order to track attendance. Premium giveaway items may also be made available for each game, as applicable, at the Faculty & Staff Series check-in table while supplies last.

Lunchtime Express

Every Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, 10:00 a.m.-2:30 p.m.

Location: Student Recreation Center

Description: The SRC offers several “Lunch Time Express” group exercise classes to all faculty and staff. These classes are free and do not require an SRC membership to participate. Come join SRC members on your lunch break every Monday through Wednesday from 10:30am-2:30pm this Spring semester (1/22/2019-5/19/2019) to pursue your wellness goals. This program is offered as part of the CSUN HR Professional Development program. How to Register for a Group Exercise Class Online:

STEP 1

Log in to your MINDBODY account with your chosen username and password on the SRC MINDBODY Online Portal.
Note: If you do not have a MINDBODY account, you will need to create an account on the SRC MINDBODY Online Portal and purchase a "SRC COMPLIMENTARY SERVICES" package for $0.00 before being able to sign-up for any classes. This package only needs to be purchased once through the lifetime of the account.

STEP 2

Choose a class from the schedule and click the “Sign Up Now” button. Online registration opens one day in advance and will close 10 minutes prior to the class start time. Only in-person registration will be accepted from that point at the Total Training Zone desk.

STEP 3

Pick up a GX class pass at the Total Training Zone desk as early as one hour before prior to your class start time to claim your registered spot.

Note: Failure to claim your pass 10 minutes prior to the class start time will result in you automatically forfeiting your registered spot and you will be required to wait in the stand-by line for potential remaining availability.
