  2. Download the “On-Campus Location Permit for CSUN Student Academic Project” and the "General Waiver" form. You may also use the one provided to you by your CTVA instructor.
    1. Complete the form with all desired locations and times.  Be sure to include your contact info and to sign the form.
    2. Make sure to read page 2 that notes the manager for select campus locations that you must contact directly to film in that specific department (i.e. USU, Oviatt Library, etc.). All other CSUN locations, interior, and exterior, including all classrooms, can be reserved through University Licensing Office
    3. Obtain the instructor’s approval and signature.

How to submit your form:

  1. Students may submit the form to the Licensing Office two ways:
    1. Email – completed signed forms can be emailed to licensing@csun.edu
Please note “CTVA Request” in the subject line.
    2. In-Person – the other option is to submit the form in person by visiting University Licensing at The University Corporation office to (located on the 3rd Floor of Sierra Center which is above The Marketplace). A minimum of 5 days prior to the date of filming
    3. Upon arriving please notify the front desk that you are submitting a CTVA filming permit. They will notify a licensing staff who will meet with you to review your request.
    4. Please note: certain locations may require a campus staff to unlock buildings and/or oversee the film shoot. In those cases, the student(s) will be charged for staffing.
  2. Once received, University Licensing will obtain approvals from the campus departments that oversee the requested locations.  You should hear back from University Licensing within 48 hours regarding the availability of your requested locations. If your project is for a Senior Thesis, a scout of your location may be needed before it can be reserved.
  3. Once all areas are approved, the student will be notified that their request is approved and the form is available for pickup at The University Corporation’s front reception desk.
  4. On the day of the film shoot, you must have the approved/signed form with you as it serves as your filming permit to show you are approved to film in the location, should anyone question you.
