But he said he kept coming back to Morris, who played at Westchester High in Los Angeles with Aztec alum Tony Bland and has been one of Bland’s closest friends since sixth grade. He worked in private skill development with college and pro players, then as an assistant coach at CSUN, Nevada and San Jose State. He also had two stints at Long Beach State – as director of basketball operations, then director player development in 2016-17 – on a staff with Rod Palmer, whom Dutcher hired last spring when Hutson was named head coach at Fresno State.
