For summer 2017, MPYD had two students interning at True Value Hardware in Pasadena, two interning at Smart & Final, and four students were employed by Neighbors Empowering Youth – a community Non-Profit organization that trains students in refurbishing computers that are then donated to youth or sold at low cost to the community. In addition, one student was employed at Architecture for Education INC, where he was personally mentored by manager David Lopez. Architecture for Education INC. has helped mentor two other MPYD students in the past; one student went on to continue his education at San Francisco State University, and the other received his Master’s degree from Cal State Northridge. The remaining 2017 work crew students were employed directly by MPYD on the John Muir campus in campus beautification and registration assistance.
