Jayson Newman, who set a league record for runs batted in, perpetrated an ice bath and cracked wise. The Cal State-Northridge player became a runaway fan favorite during his summer in Fayetteville. Newman batted .352, swatted 11 homers and drove in 56 runs, but with an answer indicative of the SwampDogs’ team-first philosophy, he demurred when talking of his success.
