The 49ers (12-18-1) are hoping the return of pitcher Cielo Meza and a dramatic extra-innings win can give them some momentum going into the first Big West weekend of the year. LBSU hosts Cal State Northridge for a doubleheader at 1 p.m. on Saturday and a series finale at the same time on Sunday. LBSU came back to beat Loyola Marymount 2-1 in nine innings on Tuesday at LBSU Softball Complex to split the last nonconference doubleheader. Meza struck out two in her inning of work while Julia Lombardi, Hannah Crookson and Nichole Fry delivered the clutch RBIs. CSUN (20-11) was picked to finish third in the Big West behind LBSU and Cal State Fullerton. The Matadors have won 75 games over the last two years and a conference title in 2015. CSUN outfielder Taylor Glover leads the Big West with a .429 batting average and 26 RBIs.
