Welcome to another exciting week of self-care! This week, on Tuesday, October 18th, from 12-1 in Ed 1214, we welcome back our wonderful nutritionist, Ellen Bauersfeld, who will give another great presentation about health and diet. Then also on Tuesday, enjoy a chance to rebalance through meditation from 2-2:30 in the CTL conference room.
And this Wednesday, Oct. 19th, is Sustainability Day at CSUN! Please see a detailed schedule below!

Oct. 18th, and every Tuesday this semester from 2-2:30 in CTL Conference Room: Mindfulness, meditation, and relaxation. Come take advantage of regular mediation sessions this semester.
Oct. 18th, Tuesday, 12-1 1214 Ellen Bauersfeld: nutrition and wellness as an expanded presentation about holistic health and diet.
Oct. 19th, Wednesday CSUN Sustainability Day in the USU Northridge Center
The first session will be held from 11:00 am – 12:15 pm, and is titled “Your Water: Now and the Future.” It will feature presentations from two CSUN professors - Dr. Amalie Orme, Geography department, who’ll discuss California’s water supply and the impact of drought, and Dr. Sami Maalouf, Civil Engineering & Applied Mechanics, who’ll explain regional strategies for coping with water shortage.
The second session, “Watts up With Your Utility Bills?” from 12:30 pm – 1:45 pm, will host 3 speakers. Cole Hershkowitz, Founder and CEO of Chai Energy, will explain what his startup does and how their App can lower your electric bill. Gabriel Halimi, CEO of Flo Technologies, will discuss his startup’s technology solution to reducing home water use. Kiana Lucero from CSUN’s Institute for Sustainability will highlight opportunities for households to save energy and water and save money in the process.
From 2:00 pm – 3:45 pm, we will be screening the documentary "A Fierce Green Fire: The Battle for a Living Planet,” followed by Q&A. This film chronicles the environmental movement, showing grassroots campaigns and global activism spanning fifty years.
From 4:00 pm – 5:15 pm, Dr. Stevie Ruiz, Chicana/o Studies, will chair a panel on social and environmental justice, including Vanessa Torres who leads the City Kids Wilderness Project that brings urban young people out to parks and Fabian Gonzalez from the U.S. Forest Service. Each will discuss barriers Latinos face in accessing the great outdoors and initiatives that community members can take in order to access and sustain healthy relationships with federal lands, oceans and mountains. This session is co-sponsored by the Civil Discourse and Social Change program. *Please note, this session will be held in the Lakeview Terrace Room, adjacent to the Northridge Center.
Oct. 25th, Tuesday, 12-1 Take a trip to the CSUN OASIS CENTER! Find out about acupuncture, massage, and other services for faculty and staff at this beautiful location with Joo Kim, Acupuncturist, CSUN Health Center. We'll meet in Ed 1214 at noon and walk over from there.

Nov. 22nd, Tuesday, 12-1 Traveling for Bliss: Mechelle N. Best, PhD, Associate Professor, Chair & Graduate Coordinator in the Department of Recreation & Tourism Management will present on travel tips and places that provide wonderful opportunities for self-care!
