EXCEPTIONAL ADMISSION

When one or more of the following required items for admission is not met, the candidate may petition for exceptional admission:

  •  Subject Matter Competency-  Passage of CSET or verification of Subject Matter Program completion.
  • Required GPA of 2.67 overall or 2.75 last 60 units.

To be considered for exceptional admission you must submit a petition for exceptional admission form with your online program application.

Carefully read the following:

  • ACT Single Subject Credential candidates are not eligible for Exceptional Admission.
  • To be eligible for admission to any Credential Program you must be in good standing in your previous or current university.
  • Exceptional admission is not an option if your overall GPA is lower than 2.5.

  • This option is limited to one term.  If you are not accepted under this option you must meet regular admission requirements to apply for a future semester. The application fee is not transferable.
  • Exceptional admission is only allowed for one semester; you will not be allowed to enroll for classes the following semester unless the missing admission requirements have been satisfied.
  • If you are admitted under Exceptional Admission, you will not be eligible to student teach in your first semester.

Note: Our staff is unable to provide a status check on your exceptional admission file or an opinion as to whether or not you will be accepted under this option. You will be notified after the committee has made a decision.
