COE Self-Care Activities Week Three

Dear College of Education Staff and Faculty,

This week we complete our holistic health month with a wonderful presentation Tuesday, Sept. 27th, on acupuncture, acupressure, and traditional Asian health practices from 12-1 in Ed 1214 with Yoo Kim, Acupuncturist at the CSUN Klotz Health Center and part time instructor on Holistic and Asian traditional health practices. Find out what's available here at CSUN and how you can expand your holistic self-care options!  And there will be munchies!

Next week we start our self-care and the arts theme with three amazing opportunities! 0n Oct. 4th from 12-1 in Ed 1214/1216, we have a great presentation on the arts with Anthony Cantrell from the Valley Performing Arts Center (VPAC). There will be fun, free stuff, and food!! On Thursday Oct. 6th from 5 to 7:30, the Drums of India will give a free performance on the VPAC lawn and will include participation, food, and great Indian drumming. Faculty, staff, and students are all welcome! On Saturday, Oct. 8th, Winton Marsalis performs at the VPAC at 8pm as a celebration of arts and education.  Don't forget that mindfulness meditation continues every Tuesday from 2 to 2:30 this semester, so come join us in the CTL conference room. Please watch for weekly emails on upcoming self-care activities, and keep checking the self-care website.

UPCOMING DATES TO SAVE: 

Oct. 4th, Tuesday, 12-1 1214 Arts and Education Presentation: Anthony Cantrell, Ph.D., Director of Arts Education at the Valley Performing Arts Center , will share about the importance of arts in education as essential for wellness and self-care. He will also discuss wonderful opportunities to enjoy arts on campus with lots of free and reduced rates for our COE faculty and staff.

Oct. 6th, Thursday, 5-7:30, VPAC lawn, drums of India will perform at the VPAC with participation, food, and great Indian drumming.

Oct. 8th, Saturday, 8pm, Winton Marsalis concert at the VPAC celebrating arts in education.

Oct. 18th, Tuesday, 12-1 1214 Ellen Bauersfeld:  nutrition and wellness as an expanded presentation about holistic health and diet. 

Nov. 1st, Tuesday, 12-1 1214 "Putting California on Your Plate" Presentation: Antonio Sanchez, Production Manager, Rancho Santa Ana Botanic Garden will talk about native planting, and cooking recipes using California native plants. Yum! 

Nov. 15th, Tuesday,  12-1 1214 Ellen Bauersfeld:  nutrition and wellness 

Nov. 22nd, Tuesday, 12-1 Traveling for Bliss: Mechelle N. Best, PhD, Associate Professor, Chair & Graduate Coordinator in the Department of Recreation & Tourism Management will present on travel tips and places that provide wonderful opportunities for self-care!
