COE Self-Care Activities Week Two

Dear College of Education Staff and Faculty,

     We continue the holistic health theme in week two of our fall self-care activities. Mindfulness meditation will be offered this Tuesday, Sept. 20th from 2-2:30 in CTL Conference Room, and will continue every Tuesday this semester, so come take advantage of this regular holistic health practice. The following week on Sept. 27th, we will have a great presentation on acupuncture, acupressure, and traditional Asian health practices from 12-1 in Ed 1214. Please watch for weekly emails on upcoming self-care activities, and keep checking the self-care website.

Below are September self-care activites:

Sept. 20th and every Tuesday this semester from 2-2:30 in CTL Conference Room: Journey into Mindfulness. Come take advantage of regular mindfulness mediation sessions this semester.

CANCELLED Sept. 20th, Tuesday, 12-1 ED 1214 Nutrition and Wellness due to schedule conflicts.  Dietitian Ellen Bauersfeld will return next month on Oct. 18th for a longer presentation.

Sept. 27th, Tuesday, 12-1 ED 1214 Acupuncture, Acupressure, and Holistic health practices: with Yoo Kim, Acupuncturist at the CSUN Klotz Health Center and part time instructor on Holistic and Asian traditional health practices

UPCOMING DATES TO SAVE: 

Oct. 4th, Tuesday, 12-1 1214 Arts and Education Presentation: Anthony Cantrell, Ph.D., Director of Arts Education at the Valley Performing Arts Center, will share about the importance of arts in education as essential for wellness and self-care. He will also discuss wonderful opportunities to enjoy arts on campus with lots of free and reduced rates for our COE faculty and staff

Oct. 18th, Tuesday, 12-1 1214 Ellen Bauersfeld:  nutrition and wellness as an expanded presentation about holistic health and diet. 

Nov. 1st, Tuesday, 12-1 1214 "Putting California on Your Plate" Presentation: Antonio Sanchez, Production Manager, Rancho Santa Ana Botanic Garden will talk about native planting, and cooking recipes using California native plants. Yum! 

Nov. 15th, Tuesday,  12-1 1214 Ellen Bauersfeld:  nutrition and wellness 

Nov. 22nd, Tuesday, 12-1 Traveling for Bliss: Mechelle N. Best, PhD, Associate Professor, Chair & Graduate Coordinator in the Department of Recreation & Tourism Management will present on travel tips and places that provide wonderful opportunities for self-care!
