Suzanne Shield-Polk has exhibited nationally with her works in clay, encaustic wax, mixed media and electronic media. Early in her career, before earning her Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Texas, Austin, Shield-Polk worked as a production potter in San Marcos, Texas. After she graduated, Shield-Polk put her newly acquired skills to work and began focusing on a new craft of set decorating and art direction for the motion picture industry. Years later, Shield-Polk left the film industry to attend California State University, Northridge to pursue her Master of Fine Arts in ceramics, sculpture and video. Shield-Polk current serves as the Art Department chair and as an art professor at Lone Star College-CyFair.
