Ronald Morán was born in El Salvador in 1972. He has represented El Salvador in many international biennials, such as the 2010 IV Beijing International Art Biennale in Beijing, China, the 2008 Havana Biennale in Cuba, the 2007 VII Venice Biennale in Italy, among others. In 2006 he was selected by Exit Magazine in Madrid, Spain, as one of the top one hundred most influential Latin American contemporary artists. He lives and works in El Salvador. Therapy for a Sweet Dream explores the disruption of sleep in a dysfunctional world plagued by murder, impunity, and corruption. Taking as a point of departure the popular belief that counting sheep induces sleep, this video installation invites the viewer to count, instead of sheep, former members of the Mara Salvatrucha gang (MS13) as they jump over a fence.
