Why Minor in African Studies?

Students who minor in African Studies gain in-depth knowledge of the African continent. Our courses provide a rich understanding of African culture, geography, history, literature, government and politics, art, and religion. This knowledge base provides a competitive edge in today’s global economy where an understanding of African life ways and systems of thought is an asset. This minor is especially well-suited for those who want to work in international business, non-governmental organizations (NGO’s), healthcare, the Foreign Service, and the State Department.

In addition, the African Studies minor faculty teach students how to think, write, and speak critically- skills that add value to future employees.
