by Kenneth Lord, Dean of David Nazarian College of Business and Economics
In a series of January meetings across a large swath of China, orchestrated by Dr. Justine Su, a David Nazarian College of Business and Economics delegation explored collaborative opportunities with 12 top regional and national universities in Shanghai, Suzhou, Nanjing, Kunming, Jingzhou, and Guangzhou. Partnerships forged on the trip are leading to student and faculty exchanges, increased enrollment of highly qualified students in our graduate programs, scholarly collaboration, and travel courses that will yield rich insights into Chinese markets, business practices, and international trade. Accompanying Dr. Su and me were business faculty Dr. Debi Cours, Dr. Monica Hussein, and Dr. Daniel Degravel.
While visiting Shanghai University of Finance and Economics, we shared a few minutes with a 2014 Nazarian College alumnus, now on full Chinese government scholarship in that institution’s graduate program. This talented scholar, the first in his family to earn a college degree, explained that through the opportunities he enjoyed at CSUN by the time he completes his MBA in Shanghai he will be fluent in four languages and have solid knowledge of and experience with business practice in North America, Europe, and Asia. I could not have been more proud to be associated with an institution and a faculty that create such opportunity for our deserving students and look forward to the experiences awaiting many others through the relationships created on this trip.
