Study Abroad

What is the CSU IP Study Abroad program? Am I eligible and how long can I go for?

The CSU IP program offers eligible students the opportunity to study at one of 18 countries for one academic year. The countries are Australia, Canada, Chile, China, Denmark, France, Germany, Ghana, Italy, Korea, Mexico, New Zealand, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, Taiwan and the UK.

Am I eligible?

Students must have a minimum GPA of 2.75 to apply for most countries. However, Australia, New Zealand and the UK require a GPA of 3.0.

Typically students are in their Junior Year when they study abroad. However, some of the programs are open to Sophomore students. Ask Juliet Aylmer for more information or attend an Information Session.

Do I need to know a language?

For some countries, there is a minimum language requirement. Please attend an Information Session to find out more or see the FAQ section.

How long can I go for?

The CSU IP program is for one academic year. STUDENTS CANNOT APPLY FOR ONLY ONE SEMESTER. For all countries other than Australia, New Zealand and South Africa, students go abroad in the Fall. For Australia, New Zealand and South Africa students depart in early February.

ICN Business School

 

David Nazarian College of Business and Economics Exchange Program with ICN Business School

The exchange program started in Fall 2008 between CSUN and the “Institut Commercial de Nancy” ICN (France) aims at facilitating international experiences and cross-borders learning for students and faculty members. It is one of the many exchange programs that CSUN has developed with universities all over the world. Students staying a year at ICN have the opportunity to obtain a Bachelor in Business Administration from ICN (BBA), in addition to their Business area or Economics degree from CSUN. Courses are offered in the following disciplines: management; economy and legal environment; marketing; strategy; economic and geopolitical environment; finance and control; and French, European and international cultures.

Students may study at ICN for a semester or a year. Students who study for a year may be eligible to receive a bachelor's degree from both ICN and CSUN.  

The program will enable you to:

  • Develop an international business perspective
  • Experience a new culture
  • Develop your language skills

Eligibility

Applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • 3.0 minimum overall GPA (cumulative)
  • 60 units completed (CSUN or Transfer)
  • CSUN undergraduate student with a business or economics major at the time of application;
  • ​Business Majors: ​Completion of all lower division major requirements and BUS 302 AND 302L with a grade of "CR"; or ​Economics Majors: Completion of all lower division Economics major requirements.

Shanghai Normal University

Founded in 1954, SHNU was then named Shanghai Teachers Training College. In 1956 it was expanded into two colleges, Shanghai No. 1 Teachers College and Shanghai No. 2 Teachers College. Two years later, the two colleges were combined to form Shanghai Teachers College.

From 1972 to 1978, it was known as Shanghai Normal University after combining four other ones including East China Normal University. In 1978 it was restored to Shanghai Teachers College, and was renamed as Shanghai Teachers University in 1984. It combined with Shanghai Teachers College of Technology in October 1994 to form a new Shanghai Normal University. From September 1997 to August 2003, SHNU took in successively the following units as its subordinates: Shanghai Teacher Training College, Department of Human Sanitation and Health of Huangling Teacher School, Shanghai Xingzhi Art School, and Shanghai Tourism Institute. The university has 16 colleges and 81 research bodies. Also located in SHNU are, among others, Shanghai Teachers Training Center, Shanghai College Teachers Training Center, and the Editorial Department of Academic Abstracts of Liberal Arts of College Journals.

Shanghai Government Scholarship

Scholarship Applications Forms (Class A, Class B, Class C) can be submitted to ICCS of SHNU.

Deadline for application is May 31.

Shanghai Government Scholarship (SGS) is divided into 3 classes.

  • Class A - For Master's applicants (about RMB 50,000 per year per student) and Ph. D. applicants (about RMB 60,000 per year per student)
  • Class B - For undergraduates, Master and Ph. D. applicants (about RMB 20,000 per year per student)
  • Class C - For registered undergraduates, Masters Ph. D. students (about RMB 5,000 per year per student)
