Nearly 30 students majoring in business at Nazarian college recently got a private tour of one of Los Angeles' most iconic sports and entertainment venues—SoFi Stadium.
Nestled in Inglewood, California, the stadium is a 70,240-seat sports and entertainment indoor-outdoor stadium that is home to two pro football teams—the Los Angeles Rams and Chargers. Since its grand opening in September 2020, the stadium has quickly become an iconic landmark
Accompanied by Real Estate lecturer, Norman Chung and guided by SoFi Stadium staff, the students explored the inner workings of the facility, including its state-of-the-art audiovisual technology and luxury suites. Students learned about the stadium's sustainable design features and its commitment to environmental responsibility, gaining insights into the intersection of sports and sustainability.
The locker rooms of the Chargers and LA Rams were the highlight of the tour for many of the students who appreciated the opportunity to walk in the footsteps of their favorite athletes and envision themselves as part of the action.
At the end of the tour, many of the students said they left SoFi Stadium with a newfound appreciation for real estate, the world of sports and entertainment and the teamwork required to create such a monumental project.
Chung, says these types of tours provide students with first-hand knowledge about real estate and its impact on local and regional communities. "A primary goal of the real estate center and program at Nazarian College is to provide hands-on experience for students," Chung says. "Trips such as the one we took to SoFi Stadium bring real-life experiences to students and can spark interest in real estate appraisal, finance, investment and development, among other real estate careers."
The trip was sponsored by the college's Real Estate Center of which Chung serves as co-director. He says that the center is planning additional field trips for the next semester.
