David Nazarian College of Business and Economics alumnus Nick Tarditti ‘04 (Finance) was honored as the Rising Star CFO of the Year at the Los Angeles Business Journal’s 2021 CFO Awards for his work on Psomas’s pandemic response team.

Eight more Nazarian College alumni were nominated in other categories at the event where the Nazarian College was a presenting sponsor.

Alumnus Steve Aleman ’98 (Accounting) was a nominee and finalist for the Enterprise Private Company CFO category due to his efforts in executing strategic growth opportunities and driving Prime Healthcare’s future company growth. Diane Duncan ’92 (Business Administration), Mark Fleischmann (Business Administration), Nadia Litovskaya ’07 (Finance and Real Estate), Peter Rivera ’86 (Accounting), Mitchell Thomas ’76 (Accounting) and John Yeressian ’00 (Finance) were all nominees as well.

“It’s incredible to see our alumni get recognized for their work especially during the pandemic, where the role of CFO evolved significantly,” said Chandra Subramaniam, dean of the Nazarian College. “This recognition is proof positive that our alumni are making a significant impact within their roles, companies and communities.”

The Los Angeles Business Journal’s annual CFO Awards event began back in 2006. In its 15th year, the event honored finance professionals in the Los Angeles region for their ongoing efforts as outstanding financial stewards. Given the economic times and ever-changing climate, CFOs serve as essential members of a company's core leadership team. The event also featured a panel of industry experts, including Brandon Ferrera, Southern California Market Executive, Middle Market Banking at Fifth Third Bank, Brian Hegarty, Principal, Managing Director Los Angeles – Employee Benefits Division at Marsh McLennan Agency and Nelly Montoya, Director, Management Consulting & Financial Services Senior Analyst at RSM US LLP, where they discussed the ever-changing economic climate, the evolving role of the CFO, the current state of financial affairs, and the overall financial outlook of businesses in Southern California this year.
