Nazarian College of Business and Economics recently welcomed 51 students to the college’s Beta Gamma Sigma chapter during a recognition ceremony at Bookstein Hall.
Chandra Subramaniam, dean of Nazarian College, Faculty Advisor Valerie Flugge, and Student President Leo Orellano presided over the event.
In his remarks, Dean Subramaniam congratulated the students on their academic achievement and membership in the prestigious business honor society.
“This recognition is a testament to the hard work and dedication you have shown toward your studies,” Subramaniam said, adding that he was pleased that the chapter continues to grow.
“Under the excellence guidance of Professor Valerie Flugge, who serves as faculty advisor, and the assistance of Student President Leo Orellano, our chapter has attained ‘Highest Honors Status’ for the past several years,” said Subramaniam. “This is the most prestigious level of recognition that a chapter can receive and is a tremendous accomplishment.”
Membership in Beta Gamma Sigma is offered only to students from the top 5 percent of business schools, like the David Nazarian College of Business and Economics, that have been accredited by AACSB International—the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business. Only undergraduate students whose academic records place them in the top 10 percent of Nazarian College and who also have a 3.8 G.P.A. or higher are eligible to join. Graduate students must be in the top 20 percent of their class.
“It is such a joy to celebrate our students who have worked so hard and have excelled academically,” says Flugge. “Beta Gamma Sigma is not just a resume builder. Membership will allow these students to network internationally and continue to build the skills necessary to have a successful and fulfilling career.”
