As fall semester begins, students can expect many new things from the College of Business and Economics. With the introduction of a brand new Interactive Marketing minor, students can look forward to three new classes. Two of these three electives will be offered this fall, including MKT 350, Consumer Information in the Digital Age, and MKT 36, Marketing Metrics and Insights, with the third class being offered in the spring as MKT 459, Social Media and Marketing.
COBAE also welcomes four new faculty and staff members this year. Dr. Kristine L. Beck (Ph.D., Florida State University), assistant professor in the Finance, Financial Planning and Insurance Department, is an accomplished scholar in her discipline and has taught as a faculty member at the University of Denver and the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh, where she also directed the Wisconsin Financial Services Institute. Dr. Akanksha Bedi (Ph.D., McMaster University), assistant professor in the Management Department, taught previously on the faculty of Bishop’s University and has earned recognition for excellence in teaching and research. Dr. Young-Won Her (Ph.D., University of South Carolina at Columbia), assistant professor in the Accounting & Information Systems Department, has taught at multiple universities in South Korea and Australia in addition to Columbia College, University of Missouri-St. Louis and Winthrop University in the United States, and has garnered recognition for teaching and scholarship on two continents. Dean Kenneth R. Lord (Ph.D., The Ohio State University) joins us from The University of Scranton, where he served as associate dean of the Kania School of Management from 2006 to 2013; he has also held faculty and administrative positions at Mercer University, Niagara University and State University of New York at Buffalo and has authored more than 75 journal articles and conference presentations that have led to some 1700 citations of his work and his ranking among the world’s top advertising scholars.
