Dr. Chandra Subramaniam, CPA, CMA, currently serves as the Dean of David Nazarian College of Business and Economics at California State University Northridge. Previous to that he has served as the Interim Dean, Associate Dean for Students and Programs, Chair of the Department of Accounting and Professor of Accounting at the University of Texas at Arlington College of Business.
He was an Assistant Professor of Accounting at Texas Christian University before joining UT-Arlington in 2003. He received his undergraduate degree in Physics from the University of Malaya, Malaysia and a second baccalaureate degree in Accounting from the University of Minnesota-Duluth. He has an MBA from the University of Minnesota-Duluth and earned his Ph.D. in Accounting from the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities.
He has taught at multiple universities including the University of Minnesota at Duluth and Twin Cities, Tongji University in Shanghai and University of Science and Technology, Beijing. He has taught at all levels including in the undergraduate program, masters program, executive MBAs and doctoral seminars.
His non-academic career includes several years as an engineer for National Semiconductor in Malaysia and as the Director of the Small Business Development Center and Small Business Institute providing consulting services for North Eastern Minnesota.
His research has largely focused on management incentives, executive compensation and corporate governance published primarily in finance and accounting journals, including the Journal of Finance, Journal of Accounting, Auditing and Finance, Journal of Business Ethics, Journal of Business Finance and Accounting, Abacus, Accounting Horizons, among others. This research has been reported in the professional press for the public and investment community by the Wall Street Journal, Institutional Responsibility Research Center, and Legg Mason Capital Management.
He has held board memberships in the Ft. Worth Chapter of the Texas Society of CPAs and the Financial Executives InternationaI. He has been awarded the 2015 Meritorious Service in Accounting Career Education by the TSCPA, Ft. Worth Chapter, honored by Dallas CEO Magazine as a 2018 “Most Powerful Business Leaders in Dallas-Ft. Worth”. At CSUN he has been selected as the “500 Most Influential People in Los Angeles by LA Business Journal, and “200 Most Influential Leaders in the Valley” by the San Fernando Valley Business Journal for the past five years.
