If you would like to talk to someone about a mental health or drug-related issue immediately, you can contact a hotline 24/7 for confidential advice!

Note: If you or someone else is experiencing a potentially life-threatening situation and is in need of immediate attention, call 911. You can also call the CSUN campus police at (818) 677-2111.

Crisis Text Line — Text HOME to 741741 from anywhere in the US 24/7 to text with a trained crisis counselor. Text, chat, or WhatsApp options available. Crisis doesn’t just mean thinking about ending your own life.  It’s any painful emotion and anytime you need support. 

LGBTQIA+ Suicide Prevention — If you are struggling, you can call or chat with the confidential, 24/7 Lifeline (1-800-273-8255).

SAMHSA FREE 24-hour National Helpline 1-800-662-HELP (4357) — SAMHSA’s National Helpline is a free, confidential, 24/7, 365-day-a-year treatment referral and information service (in English and Spanish) for individuals and families facing mental and/or substance use disorders.

Let's Talk! Informal drop-in consultations on campus

Don’t want to schedule regular counseling, but still want to talk to someone? Whether it is stress, sadness, difficulty adjusting to school, academic concerns, or relationship or family problems, sharing your concerns with another person can make a positive difference. 

Let’s Talk counselors can talk through your issue with you and help you determine the best way to get help. Let’s Talk provides easy access to informal consultations with counselors from University Counseling Services during drop-in consultation hours at sites around campus throughout the week: DREAM Center, Athletics, Pride Center, Black House, International and Exchange Student Center, Oasis Wellness Center, and Student Housing.
