Misgendering: To identify the gender of a person incorrectly.

Deadnaming: Deadname is the name given to a transgender, nonbinary, and/or gender-expansive person at birth and no longer used.

Title IX protects you against discrimination or harassment of gender identity

What is an example of this occurring?

Deadname Wrong Pronouns

Faculty, staff, or another student misgenders and/or deadnames you.

This can be in the form of ignoring your name or not using your pronouns, even with reminders or clarifications.

You can report this behavior to the Office of Equity and Compliance

You can report this behavior to the Office of Equity and Compliance

The member involved will be aware of the concern and informed on CSUN policies.

Formal Investigation

If this is repeated and/or intentional a formal investigation can occur.

A hearing may occur if a CSU Policy is found to be in violation.

If a violation is found, discipline through the relevant counterparts will be discussed.
