May 19, 2022

In a recent letter to the campus community, President Erika D. Beck, Ph.D. announced the appointment of Ranjit A. Philip as the new Vice President for Information Technology and Chief Information Officer (CIO).

Dear Campus Community:

I am very pleased to announce that, following a national search, Ranjit (Ron) A. Philip has been appointed Vice President for Information Technology and Chief Information Officer (CIO).

Leveraging both technical expertise and a collaborative leadership style, Ron has served CSUN Information Technology since 1999 in increasingly responsible roles. As Interim Vice President since January 2020, Ron has demonstrated exceptional leadership and an unwavering commitment to equity, justice and inclusion. In addition to his instrumental role in facilitating the pivot of our campus to remote and hybrid operations, Ron has been a champion of equitable educational opportunities through the initiation of programming to expand student and faculty access to technology, devices and internet connectivity. He has worked collaboratively across the university to utilize technology to fully support our academic and business functions, guided the use of technology as a vehicle to promote inclusion, and has catalyzed the opportunities presented through emerging technologies to enable teaching, learning and working.

My thanks to the search committee for their efforts: Drs. Michael Neubauer, Wayne Smith and George Wang; Professor Caleb Owens; Dean Chandra Subramaniam; Associated Students Senator Teady Ochoa and search committee chair Dr. Matt Cahn.

Please join me in congratulating Ron on his well-earned appointment.

Erika D. Beck, Ph.D.
President
