New CSUN Canvas Template Now Available

December 22, 2022

Getting your course Canvas ready takes a lot of time, but you can give yourself a headstart with the CSUN Canvas Template. This semester we are Beta testing a shell that you can import to your Canvas course to begin with a beautiful homepage, student resources module and consistent course structure. Did you know that according to the 2022 IT Student Survey, 79% of students said that their learning would improve if all courses were structured similarly?

If you are just getting started, this will set you up to put everything you need right into place. Or, if you have used Canvas just a bit but want to do more, this is the perfect way to get your course organized and ready to best serve students.

For those who have a great Canvas course that they just want to polish, there are beautifully designed elements and resources to augment your current set up.

The Template is available in the Canvas Commons now and we would love to get your feedback when you try it out. Always start with the template then make it your own. You can then click the edit button at the top of each page or assignment to add your information or delete anything you don't want. OR, if you have been using Canvas you can import the pages and assignments and match them with the Modules that make sense.

Check the new CSUN Canvas Template page for the full instructions. In addition, we will hold two Canvas Template Clinics: Wednesday, January 11th at 1pm, and Thursday, January 26th at 2pm. We can't wait for your feedback! If you are interested in sharing your suggestions after you try the template, we plan to conduct a focus group in late Spring. Please email ftc@csun.edu to let us know if you are interested in participating.
