Rabbanit Alissa Thomas-Newborn, L.A.’s first congregational Orthodox female “rabbi”
Rabbanit Alissa is the first Orthodox woman to serve as a clergy member in Los Angeles. She serves with Rabbi Yosef Kanefsky at Congregation B’nai David-Judea Congregation. She was ordained from the Yeshivat Maharat, Orthodox women's rabbinical school. She will explain her approach to the issue of women's ordination and her work today in the Modern Orthodox world.
