This new documentary by Nancy Spielberg tells the story of the American and other foreign fighter pilots who volunteered for Israel's War of Independence. Smuggling planes out of the U.S., they trained behind the Iron Curtain in Czechoslovakia and played a crucial role in the 1948 air battle against the Arab armies that were advancing on the new Israeli state. This film features new interviews and exciting aerial footage to present a fascinating, little-known tale filled with heart and heroism.
87 minutes, in English, followed by Q & A with CSUN Jewish Studies faculty.
