Distinguished author and CSUN alumni Tod Goldberg is back this semester to give a reading from his new novel Gangsterland and to talk with students about writing, publication and the like. Some of you may remember that Tod dropped by last semester while he was on campus promoting UC Riverside’s MFA program. Scholars working in the field of environmental justice studies have presented evidence that poor, working class indigenous, and people of color communities face greater threats from pollution and industrial hazards than other groups. While these studies reveal the hardships and crimes associated with environmental inequality, fewer studies consider the flipside of that reality: environmental privilege. Read more
