Upcoming Publication of Dr. Spratt's New Book

October 1, 2018

Jane Austen

CSUN English faculty, Dr. Danielle Spratt, and fellow literary scholar, Bridget Draxler, are publishing a new book titled, Engaging the Age of Jane Austen: Public Humanities in Practice. This book, which will become available on January 3, 2019, is a collection of essays that will defend the relevancy of eighteenth-century literature and show how it is able to help people better understand current events. There are a wide array of topics, which range from the rapid increase of media to battles of social justice. This comparison is possible due to the active political culture of the eighteenth century, a time that saw the increase of libraries and museums, the incredible expansion of the press, and others platforms for public intellectual debate.
