Location:Publisher, artist, and art director Ryan Sands, co-founder of Youth in Decline (http://www.youthindecline.com) and a great advocate for independent publishing, zinemaking, and comics will be guest speaking in ENGL 333. Youth in Decline is a comics house, a Los Angeles-based publisher of “lovely and strange zines, comics, and books,” known especially for its quarterly art and comics monograph, Frontier. The Youth in Decline line showcases exciting and challenging work at the crossroads of the alternative comics and art worlds, and has worked with some of the most amazing artists and authors in comics today. Please feel free to join Dr. Hatfield in JR 304 for a chat with Ryan Sands about small-press publishing as a business and an art, and about new perspectives on the art of comics.
This event is sponsored by the College of Humanities Academic Programming Fund.
