Queer Necropolitics brings into focus regimes of attribution of liveliness and deadliness of subjects, bodies, communities and populations and their instantiation through performatives of gender, sexuality and kinship, as well as through processes of confinement, removal and exhaustion. In this talk, Dr. Posocco explores these arguments and includes a discussion of the queer necropolitical dimensions of her ethnographic research on transnational adoption circuits in Guatemala. The Institute for Sustainability is hosting a free screening of GLACIAL BALANCE followed by a Q&A session with filmmaker Ethan Steinman whose award winning documentary takes us from Colombia to Argentina, getting to know those who are the first to be affected by melting glacial reserves. The film offers an opportunity to hear, in the locals’ own words, the human impacts of a climate out of control.  Read more
