In Venezuela, there have been considerable rights won and guaranteed for the majority poor and historically marginalized communities especially for women and the LGBTQ community. On October 25th, 1999, former president Hugo Chavez created the National Women’s Institute (InaMujer), to guarantee equal opportunity and promotion of participation of women of all backgrounds.
