Dr. Héctor Leyva is originally from Honduras.  He received his doctorate in Latin American Literature at the Universidad Complutense de Madrid.  His dissertation about the Central American revolutionary movements from 1960-1990's received honorable mention.  He is the author of nine books on Honduran and Central American literature and culture, including Imaginary (under) Ground: Literary and Cultural Studies in Honduras, published in Tegucigalpa in 2009, and Fatalism in the Culture and Literature of Honduras published in 2003.  He is also editor of the IV volume on the History of Central American Literature, titled Literatura y compromiso político, which will be published by F&G Editores in Guatemala this year.  He is the current recipient of a 2011-2012 Fullbright Scholarship that has allowed him to conduct archival research in Washington DC.  Since 1984 he has been a professor of literature at the Universidad Nacional Autónomal de Honduras.

Leccture will be conducted in Spanish with English subtitles.
