Auntie Sewing Squad

Valerie Soe, award-winning filmmaker and Professor of Asian American Studies at San Francisco State University, will show clips of her upcoming documentary on the Auntie Sewing Squad, a collective of Aunties, Uncles, and non-binary BIPOC volunteers who sewed and donated cloth facemasks for first responders, First Nations People, prisoners of the San Quentin Federal Penitentiary, and grocery store workers. This event is a must for those interested in learning about Asian American/AAPIDA feminism, decolonial leadership, solidarity work, disabilities studies, radical care and documentary filmmaking.
