Celebrating a Birthday in October? Complete CalPERS Dependent Re-Verification Requirement | Deadline: October 1, 2024

Dependent Re-verification (DRV) is the process of re-verifying the eligibility of your spouse, domestic partner, children, stepchildren, and domestic partner children (family members) enrolled for state health and dental benefits. Government Code section 22843.1 mandates re-verifying the eligibility of your family members. Government Code section 22959 authorizes extending this review to your family members enrolled for dental benefits.

  • The eligibility of your family members will be re-verified once every three years. The re-verification period is based on your birth month. Employees born during the following months are required to re-verify family members during 2024: January, April, July and October.
  • For those employees with birthdays in October, you do not need to send in the Dependent Eligibility Verification Affidavit mailed to you by CalPERS. As a sustainable and convenient alternative, you will receive an email from Adobe Sign allowing you to complete your required Dependent Eligibility Verification Affidavit and attach the required document

Please complete and submit your required documents prior to October 1, 2024 in order for your dependent(s) to continue receiving health coverage and avoid cancellation on November 1, 2024.

Reminder: System-wide Policy on Employee References

As a reminder, there is a system-wide policy related to reference checks.  The policy outlines the procedures of such references and aligns with our guiding principles to demonstrate integrity in all matters and not provide positive references for employees who have engaged in significant misconduct, including serious CSU policy violation.  Key provisions of the policy notate:

  • Before providing an official CSUN letter of recommendation or a reference, either verbally or in writing, you must confirm the individual for whom you are providing the reference has not had a finding against them and that there are not currently any pending investigations/appeals.  Please complete this form and allow up to 72 hours for review and a response.
  • Employment verifications (confirmation of work dates and job title) must be directed to Human Resources at https://www.csun.edu/payroll/voe.
  • Personal references are permissible provided it is clearly noted the reference is being provided in an individual capacity and not on behalf of CSUN or the CSU.

Please review the detailed policy - Viewing (policystat.com).  Should you have any questions please reach out to HR Employee Relations at er@csun.edu or Faculty Affairs at faculty.affairs@csun.edu.
