Lunchtime Express (Program ends on 12/12, Weekly Series every Tuesday & Thursday) | September 3

Every Tuesday and Thursday, 11:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m.
Location: Student Recreation Center
 
 
Description: The SRC offers several “Lunch Time Express” group exercise classes to all faculty and staff. These classes are free and do not require an SRC membership to participate. Come join SRC members on your lunch break every Tuesday and Thursday from 11:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m. this Fall semester (8/27/2019-12/12/2019) to pursue your wellness goals. This program is offered as part of the CSUN HR Professional Development program. How to Register for a Group Exercise Class Online:

STEP 1

Log in to your MINDBODY account with your chosen username and password on the SRC MINDBODY Online Portal.
Note: If you do not have a MINDBODY account, you will need to create an account on the SRC MINDBODY Online Portal and purchase a "SRC COMPLIMENTARY SERVICES" package for $0.00 before being able to sign-up for any classes. This package only needs to be purchased once through the lifetime of the account.

STEP 2

Choose a class from the schedule and click the “Sign Up Now” button. Online registration opens one day in advance and will close 10 minutes prior to the class start time. Only in-person registration will be accepted from that point at the Total Training Zone desk.

STEP 3

Pick up a GX class pass at the Total Training Zone desk as early as one hour before prior to your class start time to claim your registered spot.

Note: Failure to claim your pass 10 minutes prior to the class start time will result in you automatically forfeiting your registered spot and you will be required to wait in the stand-by line for potential remaining availability.

Description: Commit to Be Fit (CTBF) is a free fitness program for CSUN staff/faculty/students and community members. The program is led by CSUN Kinesiology students under the supervision of CSUN Kinesiology faculty. The workouts consist of cutting edge and scientifically sound functional cardiovascular and resistance training aimed to get you in shape and help you FEEL YOUR BEST!

Mata-Tech Monday: Canvas Essentials | September 9

Description: Learn how you can enhance your courses using Canvas, the University’s Learning Management System (LMS). Canvas allows you to deliver content, communicate with students, create activities, and assess student work in an online environment. You can use Canvas for online, hybrid, or technology-enhanced face-to-face courses.

This workshop will be geared towards getting started using Canvas, but time will also be reserved to answer your questions. Please bring a laptop computer to the workshop if you would like to participate in any of the hands-on activities.

Introduction to Accessibility and Universal Design | September 17

Office Basics: Recycling on Campus & the Sustainable Office | September 18

Learn about which items in the Staples Green Products stand up to the sustainability test, and which items are plain greenwashing. We will also demystify the confusion with the new CSUN three stream waste system (Mixed Recycling, Organics, and Landfill) by seeing how to properly sort office waste.

Canvas Ally | September 23

Description: Canvas Ally is a new CSUN service to help make course materials in Canvas more accessible. Canvas Ally provides faculty with feedback on the accessibility of course content in Canvas using a visual dial and provides suggested step-by-step instructions to improve the accessibility of the content.

  • Find and use Ally features within Canvas.
  • Preview document and find accessibility issues.

As a result, we've put together some best practices and developed tools and guidelines to help managers provide their new hires with a year-long onboarding process that sets them up for success.
