A daily self-care routine can help you manage your stress and anxiety levels, improve your mood and energy, and reduce the likelihood of illnesses. For some, self-care can be taking a bubble bath and going for a massage. For others, instilling micro moments of self-care throughout the day such as short guided meditations or long walks after work are just as impactful.

Harvest fruit for communities experiencing food insecurity, learn tips on how to care for your fruit trees, and come together for a festive celebration with games, refreshments, and activities for all ages. Bring your water bottle, picnic blanket, and a reusable bag to take oranges home!

On April 22, 2024, Chief Alfredo B. Fernandez was formally sworn in as 9th Police Chief of the Department of Police Services. Having served as the interim Chief since August, 2021, Fernandez is the first Hispanic Police Chief for the department. Additionally, the ceremony recognized the promotion of K9 Corporal Virgil Messmore to the rank of Sergeant, and the formal swearing-in for recent academy graduate Officer Daisy Hernandez.
Most recently during his tenure as Chief of Police, he has worked tirelessly to fully align the principles of the campus road map that support disrupting systemic inequities and enhancing community connections and facilitation of holistic student success. He believes in responsible police reform that creates bonds with all members of the campus community. Under his leadership the Department has established:

In his thirty-seven years in law enforcement, Chief Fernandez has held all police ranks and was previously a Patrol Sergeant with the CSU, Channel Islands campus.

The Whole Body Whole Health program through the Marilyn Magaram Center is aimed at helping any individual that has been diagnosed with cancer or affected by cancer, including support persons to individuals living with cancer, by providing the FREE Whole Body Whole Health Online Cancer Toolkit. Resources include recipes, nutrition and gardening educational handouts, wellness workshop recording, Cancer Answer Podcast (available on Spotify and Apple Music), and are available in English and Spanish.

The CSUN Center for Teaching and Learning is proud to publish the newest edition of T-CARE (Teachers Connecting to Advance Retention and Empowerment). T-CARE is a peer-reviewed national newsletter designed to offer practical tips for pre- and in-service educators. This particular issue focused on AI. The CTL encourages other CSUN faculty to submit their practitioner-focused articles for consideration.
We hope you will enjoy this issue and share it with as many educators and educator networks as possible. T-CARE is free and we are grateful to the Eisner Foundation and the Schools First Federal Credit Union for making that possible.

The Center for Teaching and Learning is proud to present a new CTL on the Cutting Edge news brief, which focuses on the Transdisciplinary Bridge Project. The U.S. Department of Education Office of Special Education Programs recently awarded a $1.25 million grant to CSUN for a groundbreaking collaboration among three Master’s programs: the MA in Early Childhood Special Education (ECSE) in the Department of Special Education of the Michael D. Eisner College of Education, the MS in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) in the Department of Psychology in the College of Social and Behavioral Sciences, and the MS in Speech-Language Pathology (SLP) in the Department of Communication Disorders and Sciences in the College of Health and Human Development.
The Transdisciplinary Bridge Project represents a new program in which three disciplines (ECSE, ABA, & SLP) focus on collaboration and teaming in ECSE and Early Intervention (EI) settings. It addresses the critical shortage of highly effective, culturally responsive professionals in ECSE/EI to meet the needs of young children with disabilities and their families from diverse backgrounds.
