It’s time to volunteer to be a CSUN Navigator!
CSUN Navigators are staff and faculty that welcome our students during the first two days of the fall semester, answering questions and helping students find their way (navigate) to classes and other locations.
Fall 2018 marks the eighth year for the CSUN Navigators! With the expectation of a large number of new students, we will need a lot of volunteers to assist us with this program as it has been well received. Even if you know very little about the campus, we will give you all the tools you need to be a great Navigator. This is a good opportunity to interface with our students and to spend some time with colleagues!
All CSUN Navigators need to attend a training session. Even if you volunteered last year, you must attend the training as the content is updated each year and your experiences in prior years will add value to our discussions for our newbies. Dates for the training are currently being scheduled.
If you're interested in being a CSUN Navigator for Fall 2018 and would like us to reach out to you once the training dates are established, please provide your contact information at: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/2018_Navigators_Interest.
You can view some photos of past events at the CSUN Navigators Website at: http://www.csun.edu/development/csun-navigators
Mark your calendars for October 13, 2018! CSUN is celebrating its 60th birthday with a spectacular event, including a Grand Reunion picnic on the Delmar T. Oviatt Library lawn, a campus 5K, food trucks, a beer and wine garden, main-stage entertainment, kids’ zone and many more activities throughout the weekend. More information can be found here: www.csun.edu/60
Using a refillable bottle is a small but significant way to help reduce waste, save money, and stay hydrated. Bring your own reusable bottle (BYOB) and fill it with free water at CSUN Dining beverage fountains or water bottle filling stations across campus. To easily find these free water refill stations, you can use this map: http://www.csun.edu/sustainability/bottle-refilling (see image below). You can also refill your bottles at Flowater stations, which contain chilled reverse-osmosis filtered water, for a nominal fee. There are five FloWater refill stations on campus.
CSUN Dining and the Institute for Sustainability have been actively promoting access to free water at CSUN, in an effort to increase the use of reusable bottles on campus, reducing single-use plastic in our waste stream.
Another way to reduce plastic waste is by bringing your own reusable utensil set to conveniently and sustainably enjoy meals. Contact the Institute for Sustainability at sustainability@csun.edu or call x7710 to request a set of reusable utensils.
