Groundbreaking Event
CSUN Student Housing and Residential Life broke ground on a new student housing complex set to open fall 2025.
The project will add two four-story buildings and more than 60,000 square feet to the housing inventory — including 30,000 square feet of living spaces, additional multipurpose spaces for large-scale programming, classroom space, and new lounges designed to increase student engagement.
Residential floors of each building will resemble the existing suite-style housing, uniquely designed for first-time freshmen, and will offer dual occupancy suites with semi-private bathrooms, a study space and community living room per floor.
Additionally, Housing will see its exterior transformed through courtyard landscaping and hardscaping that will connect to the existing facilities. Improvements will include new walkways, shade structures, and outdoor amenities. Student Housing is working with contractor C.W. Driver Companies and architect A.C. Martin Partners to complete the project.
The groundbreaking event was emceed by Dr. Kevin Conn, Executive Director for Student Housing and Residential Life and included remarks by CSUN President Erika Beck, Vice President of Student Affairs and Dean of Students Dr. William Watkins, Vice President of Administration and Finance Colin Donahue and Residence Halls Association President Christian Loza-Franco. The event was attended by local and university leaders and campus community.
